The Light of God
This is the title of the new exposition that can be visited at the Sacred Art Gallery of San José in our monastery in Ledesma (Salamanca), in the Former Hospital of San José, a beautiful building from the XVIII century.
It consists of an exposition of paintings (oils, water colours, drawings, pen drawings…) and poems, all of them by the brother Abraham de la Cruz, founder of the Fraternity, which lead us through a walk along the history of Salvation and the work of God throughout humanity. There are some large paintings with great symbolic content, mystical and cathequetical.
The sacred artist is the one who makes visible something of the divine beauty, transmitting spiritual perception and not only something of mere emotional nature or appealing to the senses.
It is characterised by an interior dimensión and silence, a thirst that reveals itself through love and that which is absolute and perhaps… God himself.
The opening hours of the gallery are:
Daily, except Fridays, from 11:30 to 13:30 and 18:30 to 20:30.*In case of the door being shut during opening hours, please do not hesitate to ring the bell.
Interested groups may call us to arrange for a guided visit so that one of the members may accompany them and explain the meanings of the paintings.
