“You will be a bridge, a crossing point!”

The calling of the Fraternity Mary Star of the Morning was birthed in an encounter between Abraham of the Cross and the Lord more than 37 years ago.

The calling is to be a bridge, a crossing point between God and man, between one man and another and in a very particular way between the Church and Israel.

The calling is to unity, in the knowledge that unity does not exist in this world. Only God is one, all love and a fountain of unity.

In the Fraternity brothers and sisters are consecrated to a contemplative life in order to offer their lives as a compensation for division, especially that which exists between the Church and the Jewish people.

It is not a human project but springs from God’s love and His love is always freely given.

The founding text which gives name to our Fraternity is the Epilogue of Rev. 22:16, 17

“The Spirit and the Bride say come… And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.  I am the bright Morning Star.”

All this is reflected in the Rule of Life of the Fraternity written by Brother Abraham of the Cross.

The Fraternity relies totally on Providence in order to live both in the natural and spiritual sense.

The last aspect is that of being a spiritual family, so that anyone who comes to share a few days with us is completely integrated into the rhythm of live and prayer.

The Fraternity was canonically established as a Public Association of the Faithful on the 30th of June, 1999, by His Excellency Mons. Braulio Rodríguez Plaza, at that time Bishop of Salamanca and presently Archbishop of Toledo, Primate of Spain.

In the history and founding of the Fraternity another key person was the late Cardinal D. Marcelo González Martín, who was always a loving and benevolent father towards not only our founder but also the Fraternity.
